You may still love each other and have no idea how to stop hurting each other. Some couples come to us after years of the same arguments. Others arrive after betrayal, growing disconnection, changes in intimacy, or questions about whether the relationship can continue. You don't need to have the answer before beginning couples therapy.

You Don't Have to Wait Until the Relationship Is in Crisis.
Couples wait approximately 6 years before
coming to therapy to work on their relationship,
however, you don’t have to.
Whether your relationship has been struggling for months or years, therapy can help you understand the patterns keeping you stuck and determine what meaningful change would require from each of you.
Our work focuses on the relationship happening between you-not simply which partner is right. We help identify recurring patterns, slow down reactive interactions, uncover what each partner is protecting or needing, and create opportunities to respond differently.

Couples in distress often report one or more of the following issues
which have led them to couples counseling:
Marriage and Relationship Counseling
is typically 12 to 18 sessions and
can vary based upon presenting issues.

Couples therapy at Semillas is active and relational.
Your therapist will help you notice what happens between you in real time: how conflict escalates, where one partner withdraws, how defensiveness takes over, or where hurt becomes criticism. Rather than simply teaching communication skills, we help you understand the cycle itself and practice changing it together.
We focus on what seems to be a source of distress while providing an opportunity to practice new skills to effectively hear one another, eliminate the ‘blame game’ and heal from lingering hurts.
Couples therapy works best when both partners feel emotionally and physically safe in the relationship. If there is ongoing abuse, coercion, untreated addiction, or serious safety concerns, this type of therapy may not be appropriate at this time. In such cases, individual therapy is often a more supportive place to begin. We deeply care about your safety and are available to help guide you toward the right resources.
